Abraxis IV is the fourth planet in the Abraxis System, which is located several light years beyond the Chamra Vortex from the aperture of the far end terminus of the Bajoran wormhole in the Gamma Quadrant.
It was an uninhabited class M planet that was rich in forest and plant life as well as in natural resources.
As of 2385 it became the base of operations of Abraxis Command, a major field division of Starfleet's Vanguard Command.
It is orbited by the Alexandria II-class space station Deep Space Gamma-01, or Station DSG1, the headquarters of Task Force Dauntless, which is manned by a crew of 3,000 Starfleet personnel and is resided upon by 15,000 civilians from various Gamma Quadrant and Alpha Quadrant races.
Planetary defense[]
Abraxis Base.
Aside from the defenses provided by Abraxis Base and Station DSG1, Abraxis IV is protected by a network of automated self-replicating orbital weapons platforms adapted from Cardassian technology, which were defended by regenerative force fields and equipped with three heavy phasers (rotary mounts and 500 high-yield photon torpedoes each. The regenerative deflector shielding of these platforms protect them from return fire, rendering them nearly invulnerable. The whole network is powered by three large redundant generators, each placed in different hidden locations in the system.
Colonies[]
Located on a small continent larger in size than Greenland on Earth and in the middle of the planet's largest ocean is Abraxis Base, the first colony of the Federation and Starfleet in the Gamma Quadrant. It is manned by 1,200 Starfleet personnel and 2,400 Federation personnel. A combined population of 35,000 Federation citizens and 54,000 citizens from the Alliance of Gamma Quadrant Planets are found in several inter-connected colonies scattered around the centrally located Abraxis Base.
Located on a slightly larger neighboring tropical continent, established at opposite ends, are two other colonies: A Vulcan colony of 8,000 inhabitants and a Klingon colony of 12,000 inhabits from the House of Toral and its constituents who originated from the planet Mas'ora III.
