An attack cruiser is a type of vessel designed specifically for guerilla combat, and as such are normally heavily armed.
The Klingon Vor'cha-class is a good example of an attack cruiser, and several designs are also used by species native to the Andromeda Galaxy, including the Centarans and Krethians.
