Within the mirror universe, the Constitution class (called Sato-class within an alternate mirror universe) was a warship class that is the equivalent of the Constitution-class in the prime universe. Personally named after and by its "discoverer" Empress Hoshi Sato the Sato-class was based entirely on the structure and central systems of the captured ship USS Defiant.
Class history[]
The classes origins date as far back as the 2150s when Empress of the Terran Empire Hoshi Sato "acquired" the ship from where the class is based on the USS Defiant from Commander Jonathan Archer in 2155.
Upon doing away with Archer, Hoshi brought the reclaimed ship to Earth to show her newfound military power and declare herself ruler of all imperial territories.
Upon building her own mark of an imperial legacy Hoshi ordered the Defiant to be stripped, studied, and fully reverse-engineered. After less than 4 years of development, the first Constitution warships were launched from Beta Nairobi. The main difference between that of their prime counterparts is that the basic Pulse phaser banks for standard defense were upgraded to Phaser cannons partially to have more of a tactical edge and to generally show off their own power.
They also kept the antennae as from earlier refits on the nacelles. For years the Sato class stood as a monolith of Imperial might that no one could overthrow.
However by the 2250s due to the technical advancements led by Gabriel Lorca the constitution fleet was temporarily overthrown by rising Imperial noble house member Philippa Georgiou leading a fleet of "blade class" ships that could easily overtake the older fleet.
After her own theatrical arrival to Earth and declaring herself "Emperor" had ordered the entirety of the constitution/Sato fleet to be decommissioned and replaced with more technically advanced ships such as the Crossfield, Walker and Hou-Yi classes.
The constitution fleet remained in mothballs for 2 years after the events of the USS Discovery stopping and outer dimensionally exiling Emperor Georgiou, former Empress Sato quickly took advantage and reclaimed the throne and while she did retire the majority of Georgiou's fleet some ship classes were spared and the constitution fleet reinstated with some upgrades from the previous ships installed into the older model fleet.
By the late 24th century returned deposed "Emperor" Georgiou had (with still retained knowledge from the fleet co-designed by the Mizarian think tank of centuries previous) Commissioned a massive refit and rebuild for the class similar to its Prime counterpart in over a century.
Adding features and technology similar to a ship class of a Alternate reality fully integrated with already existing technology of the era but adding cloaking and Phaser lance capabilities as well.
