Data is a male Soong-type android Starfleet officer in the 24th century. He is well known for his role as Operations Officer and concurrent Second Officer of the Galaxy-class USS Enterprise-D and the Sovereign-class USS Enterprise-E and his role as Captain of the Enterprise-E
He was destroyed in 2379, sacrificing his life to save 800 crewman aboard the Enterprise-E, however before he died, his memories were transferred into B-4, another android built by Noonien Soong, his creator. Eventualy, his memories were downloaded from B-4 into another completely identical to his own, thus resurrecting Data. By 2427, Data was a Fleet Admiral in charge of the Starfleet Science Division.
