The Destiny-class was a type of deep space science vessel developed by Starfleet after the Dominion War.

History[]

Technical information[]

Designed with a rekindled interest of space exploration after the Dominion War, the Destiny-class was equipped with many tools necessary to chart the stars and guide Starfleet into a new age of discovery. The class also contained expanded engineering facilities, which were necessary in order for the starship to make its own repairs or act as a support ship for fleets.

Variants[]

Nimbus[]

The Nimbus-class was the most heavily armored of the Destiny line. It also had a shorter hull and saucer than the other two variants, but was closer to the original Destiny-class. The starship's nacelles forsook the traditional smooth curves of Federation design in favor of strong edges and armor.

Oracle[]

The Oracle variant had a long triangular main hull rather than a typical saucer section found on most other Federation vessels. Its two nacelles are located at the aft section of the vessel connect to the main hull by small horizontal pylons.

Trident[]

With a long, pointed hull like the Oracle variant, the Trident-class had a slightly more abrasive and larger hull than the other variants.
