A-type stars are a fundamental piece in astronomy.

Sirius a Type-A blue-white star

It is believed that A-type stars are highly stable and consist of no stellar phenomena which can deem it unstable or dying. They are believed to live eons longer than other stars. Young stars cannot be classified as A-type since they become increasingly unstable over time, A-type stars stay stable until millions of years before imploding.

In 2474 the crew of the USS Inventum discovered a A-type star, but theta radiation emissions classified it as X-type.

Kobheeria is a binary star system with two type-A blue-white stars, orbiting each other.  The Kobheerians, who hail from Kobheeria-A III, are a starfaring race.  They are freely able to travel through Cardassian space with their merchant vessels, though they occasionally must submit to searches.   Avem is the fourth world from the neighboring binary star, and has been declared “hands-off” by mutual agreement between the Federation, the Cardassian Union, and the Kobheerian people, until the native Mal-Awk people develop into a modern society with space-travel.   (See Last Unicorn Game Adventure "Where Angels Fear to Tread " on this site.)
