A Heavy Frigate was a type of starship classification used for capital ships. These are capable starships that are meant to escort the task forces. There is little distinction between Heavy Frigates and Medium Cruisers as both are roughly of the same size. Heavy frigates are seen as an intermediate step between standard frigate-type ships and cruiser type ships.
