Herans is the name given to the inhabitants of the planet Hera who are an descendants of genetically engineered humans.
The effects of the genetic engineering done by their ancestors made it impossible for the Herans to withstand intense emotions. Heran abilities were far greater compared to standard humans. They were two meters tall and above, have robust physiques, and a deliberate, formidable personality. They exhibit mixed European, Asian and African heritage common to human colonists. As descendants of genetically engineered humans, the slight changes in their muscle tissue and bonecell structure gave them incredible reflexes that were almost as good as Data's, as well as enormous strength and outstanding stamina. Their immune system was perfect and their metabolism was highly efficient. Their brains contained several neural sets which performed similar functions, this resulted to them having an intelligence level that was at least 70% higher than a standard human. They could read 10,000 words per minute and do some sophisticated mathematical calculations in a matter of seconds. They could follow two conversations at once and had clear memories of conversations they heard when they were only three months old. They also had a remarkably higher visual acuity and sense of smell and hearing than regular humans. They were also ambidextrous and almost had a Vulcan ability to disregard pain.
The Heran government was known as the Heran Modality.
