John Blackbull was a male Human and decorated Starfleet officer in the 24th century.
As of 2385, he held the rank of Admiral and was assigned as Deputy Flag Officer-in-Command of the Vanguard Fleet.
Childhood[]
Blackbull was born on 2312 on Earth to a Sioux Indian family in North America.
Starfleet Academy[]
Blackbull joined Starfleet Academy in 2328. He later graduated from the Academy in 2332, with honors.
Starfleet Career[]
After graduation, Blackbull was assigned to the Excelsior-class starship USS Endeavor with the rank of Ensign in the command division, joining his upperclassman, then Lieutenant Commander Maximus Hunter.
Deep Space 6[]
In 2335, Blackbull was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade and was asked by his friend, the newly minted Commander Hunter to join him in Station Deep Space 6.
USS Victorious[]
In 2339, Blackbull was transferred to the Ambassador-class starship USS Victorious and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He remained with the Victorious over the years, rising to the position of First Officer with the rank of Commander in 2348, until its decommissioning in 2364.
USS Manitou[]
In 2365, Blackbull was promoted to the rank of Captain and given his own starship to command, the Galaxy-class vessel USS Manitou. He remained in command of the Manitou until 2375.
Utopia Planitia Shipyards[]
In 2376, Blackbull was promoted to the rank of Commodore and was assigned to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards to spearhead new starship development projects. He was later promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and was invited to assist then Admiral Hunter in designing and building the Invincible-class, Jupiter-class and Katana-class of starships, together with other notable senior ranking Starfleet officers in 2380. He remained in Utopia Planitia after Hunter left in 2383, and was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral, at the latter's request to take the lead over the work they had both started.
Vanguard Command[]
In 2385, Blackbull was asked by Fleet Admiral Hunter to join him as Deputy Flag Officer-in-Command of the largest fleet in Starfleet, the Vanguard Fleet, which he readily accepted.
As Deputy Flag Officer-in-Command of the Vanguard Fleet, all fleet operations and missions would course through Blackbull. Meanwhile, all non-fleet operations and administrative matters would course through his counterpart, Admiral Anastassia Folonova, the Deputy Flag Officer-in-Command of Vanguard Command.
In his current capacity, Admiral Blackbull was not allowed to travel without appropriate security measures. As such, he alternated with Admiral Hunter in utilizing Task Force Resilient, the designated personal task force of the Fleet Commander and Deputy Fleet Commander of the Vanguard Fleet. Blackbull traveled onboard his own flagship, the Prometheus-class Assault Cruiser USS Ticonderoga. On these occasions, the USS Resilient and the two Defiant-class Tactical Frigates, however, do not join the task force and remain close to Hunter, wherever his location may be.
