The Kelvin-class was a type of Federation starship in use in the 23rd century. The USS Kelvin belongs to this class. This type of ship could carry a crew of 800.

The Kelvin-class only has one ventral nacelle housing the ship's warp drive engine.

Its shipboard weaponry included several phaser banks that fired blue proximity blasts in rapid fire and banks that fired red phaser beams.

24th century refit[]

In the 2370s Kelvin-class starships were refitted with new weapons and shields. The Kelvin-class in the 24th century could reach speeds of warp 8.9.

The Nobleverse refit was made when the fifth ship bearing the name of Kelvin was commissioned under the Christian Research Contract. The USS Kelvin-D was the first ship of the class. The class was the first class to be fully made by the Contract, with the soon release of the Pluto-class. It was developed by Montgomery Scott as a hobby. He gave the plans to the CRC, they added their own plans too, after two years of construction, the ship was made.
