Commander Ralston "Stoney" Beach was a 23rd century Human Starfleet officer. In the 2280s, he served as a bridge officer on the USS Reliant.
Alternate timeline[]
In an alternate 2285, during the Imperium Wars, Beach became Reliant's first officer, after Pavel Chekov's ascension to command.
Beach was aboard during the attempted takeover of Reliant by enemy forces. He, Chekov, and the communications officer were able to lockout turbolift access to the bridge, at least temporarily.
As below decks were in chaos, with fire-fights raging in the corridors, and with engineering, auxiliary control, and one of two shuttlebays compromised, Captain Chekov ordered all hands to abandon ship.
It then fell upon the three remaining bridge officers to initiate self destruct code Destruct-Zero. Which Beach dutifully carried out along with his fellow officers.
With the one-minute countdown underway, the trio ejected the bridge module. Beach then piloted them to a safe distance, joining the armada of escaping shuttlecraft.
Beach had the unique opportunity of witnessing the Reliant burn up, while on the bridge of that very same ship. He and the fellow escapees were shortly thereafter retrieved by Starfleet.
