The Rapid Reaction Force, or more popularly called RRF is a special mission unit of Vanguard Command directly reporting to Fleet Admiral Maximus Hunter and occasionally under the operational command of Rear Admiral James Kirk.
Types[]
The Rapid Reaction Force is divided into two types:
- The Wolf Pack which provide rapid reaction support primarily to the task forces of the Vanguard Fleet and secondarily to the Starfleet installations of their respective sector commands and that receive mission orders from their respective Flag Officers-in-Command
- Solitary starships on special mission profiles at are on call and receive mission orders directly from Fleet Admiral Maximus Hunter or Rear Admiral James Kirk
Function[]
Th RRF, as it was nicknamed, operate as solitary starships with independent or complementing mission profiles, or as small mission groups (Wolf Pack) that are deployed to an imminent crisis situation in a star system, or to a starship or starbase in distress. It was also deployed for diplomatic missions: shipping ambassadors, admirals and other high-ranking dignitaries from world to world.
In the absence of the Wolf Pack, the individual mission specialist starships provide the following functions:
- Respond to humanitarian or crisis situations
- Coming to the aid of smaller squadron formations that are harrassed or under attack
- Deploy to locations where there is a need to show the flag more strongly
- Provide immediate support to scientific missions when in need
- Intimidate hostile ships and discourage them from attacking smaller squadrons
- Provide stronger defense to their respective station headquarters and to their sub-stations and support installations.
The following are the individual mission specialist starships of the RRF that take mission orders from Admiral Hunter or Admiral Kirk:
These starships respond to crisis situations or take on special missions within the AOR of their respective sector commands, and are deployed from their respective home ports.

The following are the lead starships of the Wolf Pack unit of each major task force of the Vanguard Fleet and, with its group, perform rapid response, undergo special missions, and conduct primary interdictions within the AOR of their respective sector commands, and receive mission order from their respective Flag Officers-in-Command.
