The Romulan Neutral Zone, called the Avrrhinul ("Outmarches") in Rihan, is a buffer region between Federation and Romulan territory. It was set up after the Earth-Romulan War in 2160.
History[]
After 2387, the Neutral Zone became obsolete after Romulus was destroyed by the supernova of the Hobus star.
The Neutral Zone was abolished in 2441 after the Romulan Remnant linked up with the Federation, allowing ships from both sides to pass through at their will.
