Starbase 47 is a major Federation installation of the Buckingham-class which was in service with Starfleet in the 24th century.

It serves as the headquarters and center of operations of Task Force Margrave. The station's base commander holds the rank of Commodore and reports to the Flag Officer-in-Command of the task force who holds the rank of Rear Admiral.

Location

Starbase 47 is located in the area of Federation space between the Betreka Nebula and the borders of the Cardassian Union in the Alpha Quadrant.

Starship defense

Starbase 47 is protected by the following starships:

• The Prometheus-class Assault Cruiser, which serves as the flagship of the Base Commander and Sector Commander when needed.
• Two Defiant-class Tactical Frigates
• Four Valiant-class Tactical Corvettes

It also has a non-tactical support ship complement, namely:

• One Olympic-class Medical Cruiser
• One Parliament-class Utility Cruiser
• One California-class Utility Support Cruiser
• One Wallenberg-class Transport
• Two Nova-class Survey Frigates

When operating as a unit, this complement is collectively commanded by the station's Executive Officer who holds the rank of Captain.

Auxiliary craft complement

Starbase 47 also has an auxiliary craft complement of:

• Six Yellowstone-class runabouts
• Six Flyer-class heavy shuttlecrafts
• Six Type-11 shuttlecrafts
• Six Type-11 shuttlecrafts

If needed, the auxiliary craft complement, with their respective weapons systems, which are substantial in their own right, could be refitted for combat to carry more firepower and provide additional defense.

Vanguard Command

As of 2385, it was attached to Starfleet's Ninth Fleet and serves as the base of operations of Alpha Trianguli Command and the home port of Task Force Chivalrous, one of the five (5) major task force formations of the Ninth Fleet.
