Station Frontier was the largest and most powerful Federation starbase ever constructed in the 24th century. It serves as the headquarters and center of operations of Vanguard Command and the Vanguard Fleet. The station's base commander was Admiral Anastassia Folonova, the Deputy Flag Officer-in-Command of Vanguard Command and concurrent Sector Commander of Coronalis Command.
Station Frontier was a massive space station, surpassing Earth Spacedock in both volume and size. It was one of only three Immense-class starbases ever created by Starfleet. It was the largest Federation asset in what was called the "Frontier Region".
History[]
In 2384 the construction of the Starfleet support facility-cum-civilian habitat Space Station Frontier was completed. For more than two years, Starfleet had constructed this installation in utmost secrecy, bringing various parts of the station bit by bit to its site of construction. Starfleet had already foreseen the need to establish such a bulwark of the Federation in that part of space.
Location[]
Station Frontier orbited Coronalis IV, the fourth planet of the Coronalis System, which was located at the very edge of the Federation's "Frontier Region", which faces the Galactic Core to the front, the Bajoran wormhole and the Gamma Quadrant to the left, and the Delta Quadrant to the right, all in real space.
It was one of four major Starfleet installations within the Coronalis System that collectively constituted the headquarters of Vanguard Command and the core installations of Coronalis Command. The others were Coronalis Frontier Fleet Yards, which was directly connected to the station itself and which reached down to the planet's surface, Frontier 2, a Frontier-class space station orbiting Coronalis V, and Frontier 3, a Buckingham-class space station orbiting Coronalis III, which in turn serves as headquarters of Coronalis Command.

Fleet Admiral Maximus Hunter, Flag Officer-in-Command of Vanguard Command and the Vanguard Fleet hold office and reside on Station Frontier.
Flag officers who were part of Hunter's command staff and who were commanding divisions under Starfleet Operations, Starfleet Communications, and Starfleet Medical have their offices and live on the station.
Distributing the duty stations of Vanguard Command's flag officers between the three orbiting installations was part of special security protocols put in place by Admiral Hunter.
Far from main Federation space, Station Frontier was designed to be a self-sustaining center for Starfleet operations, border protection, diplomacy, exploration and commerce.

Personnel complement[]
Station Frontier was manned by 10,000 Starfleet personnel. 2,000 of whom were officers and 8,000 were enlisted. Another 10,000 Federation civilian personnel provided complementary support to the Starfleet personnel onboard. 50,000 individuals have semi-permanent residencies on the station.
Diplomatic features[]
One of the most useful sections of Station Frontier was its vast diplomatic facilities. It has no less than twenty (20) diplomatic conference rooms with one hundred VIP quarters. This allowed the station to serve as the location for high-profile diplomatic summits between the Federation and other powers around "frontier space", first contact discussions, and even fleet briefing areas during times of crises.
Base command officers[]
Ship support[]
Station Frontier was protected by the Station Frontier Defense Task Force of the Vanguard Fleet. The task force was composed of 14 starships, namely:
- One Prometheus-class Assault Cruiser, the USS Brave
- Two Diligent-class Tactical Frigates
- Three Defiant-class Tactical Frigates
- Eight Valiant-class Tactical Corvettes
- 144 Valkyrie-class advanced tactical flyers

It also has the largest unit of ships from the Station Support Task Force Division. This task force was composed of 11 starships, namely:
- One Olympic-class Medical Cruiser, the USS Provider
- Two Parliament-class Utility Cruisers
- Two California-class Utility Support Cruisers
- Two Wallenberg-class Transports
- Four Nova-class Science Frigates

The task force was commanded by Station Frontier's Base Second Officer, Captain Samuel Freeman.
Auxiliary crafts[]
Station Frontier was serviced by a total of 95 auxiliary crafts, namely:
- 1 Spirit-class heavy scout ship, the USS Griffin
- 20 Yellowstone-class runabouts
- 20 Flyer-class heavy shuttlecrafts
- 20 Type-11 medium shuttlecrafts
- 20 Type-9 light shuttlecrafts
- 14 Admiral's Yacht for the flag officers assigned to Vanguard Command Headquarters.
Vanguard Command[]
Station Frontier officially started operations in early 2385. It was the main base of operations and main headquarters of Vanguard Command and the Vanguard Fleet and was the home port of Task Force Invincible, the primary task force of the Vanguard Fleet.

Since its commissioning it had assumed great commercial, scientific, and strategic importance in the Alpha Quadrant and Beta Quadrant.
Alternate flagship[]
Station Frontier was also the home port of the alternate flagship of Task Force Invincible, the Odyssey-class Command Battleship USS Illustrious. The USS Illustrious was the primary rapid response force or mission specialist of Task Force Invincible.

Rapid Reaction Force[]
Station Frontier was also the home port and headquarters of the two leading single-mission starships of the Rapid Reaction Force, the Sovereign-class Command Cruiser USS Endurance and the Vesta-class Command Cruiser USS Pearl Harbor.
