The Tserran Species are a alien race that does not die of old age located in the Alpha Quadrant. Tserrans are known for their usage of ballistic weaponry, primarily Railguns. The Tserran species hail from the planet Tserra in the Shemesh'or system.

Physiology[]

For the most part, what kills a human kills a Tserran. If they get shot they die, if the get cut they bleed.

The only major physiological difference between Tserrans and Humans, is that the vast majority of Tserrans no longer die of old age, and physically stop aging at around the age of 20. As well, due to the same reason that they are so long lived, Tserrans heal from minor wounds faster than your average human. However Tserrans have a weaker immune system than that of humans, which makes even the common flu much deadlier.

It should also be noted that the fertility of Tserran females is 200 percent higher than that of humans, thus ensuring that each time a Tserran mates, it almost invariably ends in a pregnancy. This was thought to have occurred due to genetic tampering by the Annunan species.

Tserrans are fully compatible with Humans, Vulcans, Betazoids, Trill and other similar species, and can safely reproduce with them. It is currently unknown if the long livedness of Tserrans can be passed on to hybrid children.

Tserrans are virtually identical to humans, except for their Red eyes.

Most Tserrans have Red eyes, and black hair. However it is possible for them to have any hair color that a human can have, and just about any eye color as well.

History[]

Pre-History[]

At some point in Earths past a large group of Humans were abducted from the Sinai Peninsula by an alien race known as the Annuna. The Annuna took these humans to their home planet, and used them in the hopes of creating super soldiers. Augmenting, and tweaking their DNA to make them live longer, and heal faster.

Before they could be put into service, or tested the Annuna and another unknown Alien race went to war, and thus all of the Humano-Tserrans were put in Cryostasis due to the fact they had not yet been tested, and stored in underground bunkers for further experimentation after the war was over. However the war did not go well for the Annuna, and they were driven back to their homeworld by their enemies, and then the surface of their planet was bombarded relentlessly turning the entire surface of the planet to glass, and ostensibly killing all of the remaining Annuna. Satisfied with the genocide of their enemies, the alien race left the planet that would become Tserra. Never to return.

Thousands of years later, the glassed surface slowly crumbled into sand, and rock. Life began flourishing again. Around this time the power supply on the Tserrans cryotanks began giving out, and thus the automated systems of the cryotanks began releasing the Tserrans.

At this point, the Tserrans were nothing more than confused genetically altered humans, and they did not have their longevity yet. Over time the Tserrans began living longer and longer due to unwitting selective breeding. Also over time their own origins began becoming more and more skewed until, as far as any Tserran knew they were created on this planet by their God.

Current History[]

Tserrans fought a war against the Fioran species which began in the year 1385. This would last for about a thousand years until making first official contact with a Federation starship in 2370. However many Humans and Tserrans already knew of each others existence, with casual contact dating back to the early 2200's. Fearing war with the Federation if the Tserrans were admitted to the Federation, the Fiorans sued for peace. The Fioran-Tserran War officially came to an end in 2380. Although the war did not officially end till 2380 hostilities had for the most part ceased.

2385: The Republic of Tserra, the then representative of the Tserran people decided not to accept an invitation to join the United Federation of Planets, after several threats of secession from various Tserran colony worlds. The Federation and the Republic would continue to enjoy warm relations, and even an alliance.

2386: Despite many attempts at appeasement, three Tserran colonies declared independence over the relations with the Federation. The colonies of Qatra, Gafen, and Debash declared the short lived Tserran Federation.

2387: Unwilling to simply let its colonies go their own way, the government on Tserra sought to forcibly bring its wayward colonies back into the fold. A short clash occurred between the TDF and local militia forces on the colony of Qatra. The orbital battle lasted the better part of a day, while resistance on the ground continued for nearly two weeks. At which point the local government of Qatra capitulated.

Minor skirmishes would occur between the TDF, and the two remaining errant colonies for nearly a year.

2388: In early 2388, the colonies of Debash, and Gafen capitulated. Unwilling to stomach the bloodshed. Unofficial hostilities would continue until 2395.

2390: Several ancient starships buried on Tserra were discovered. Research had been conducted on them by both the TDF, and its Starfleet allies. During an accident aboard one of these starships cryostasis units began to fail, releasing the crews aboard all of the discovered starships. The Annuna (Drexan) newly awakened, left Tserra aboard these starships and began the process of recreating their empire.

2391: While attempting negotiations with Ser of Wotal, Napach, the Melech of Tserra was killed by forces loyal to Rin of Wotal. Along with her was the Tserran Minister of State, and the TDF flagship Azrael, with all hands.

Energized by this attack, Tserra threw its lot in with Ser, and fought a war alongside the Federation to bring down Rin’s regime.

2392: A brief skirmish between TDF, and Annunan forces occurred when a small fleet entered the orbit of Tserra, in an attempt to retrieve ancient bio-weapon samples left behind by the Annuna. No further hostilities came of this, though it did succeed in weakening the support of the Republic from its various colonies.

2394: Despite the distractions of the Wotal Civil War, secessionist fever never really abated in Tserran space. The majority of Tserran colonies reminded the homeworld, and its government that they were as sovereign as it was, and they owed it no more allegiance than they did each other. Legally speaking this was true. The government of the Republic of Tserra was the De Facto government of the Tserran state, and not the De Jure one. Prior to the Fioran Wars there existed an Imperial government which all Tserran colonies swore fealty to.

Many Tserran colonies wished to reconstitute this Empire.

2395: So as to avoid a full blown civil war, the Republic of Tserra agreed to reconstitute the Empire of Nechash in its original capitol within the city of Armon on the colony of Kitoiba.

Debate would rage for nearly a full year as to who exactly would hold the throne. Since the original Imperial family had presumably been wiped out, the son of the late Melech Napach, a man named Yarok Evyn would be installed on the throne.

A large plurality of Tserran citizens were thoroughly unhappy with this, many feeling as though they got no say in it. While many others felt that Yarok Evyn would simply be a pawn of the government of the Republic on Tserra. The TDF command tried to put forward an alternate candidate whom they said had irrefutable genetic proof that they were the multi-great grand-daughter of the last recognized Emperor.

This was promptly ignored by both the Republican Government, and the Pretender Yarok Evyn.

2396: On the morning of January the 13th, 2396, the TDF 2nd Fleet under the Command of Major Netz Rayus, entered orbit of Kitoiba, and demanded the capitulation of the 16th Fleet, stationed in orbit. The 16th complied without a shot fired.

Roughly an hour later dropships of the TDF 6th Marine Legion, once again under the command of then Major Netz Rayus, began landing at various strategic locations around the city of Armon, and the neighboring KCD Fleet Yard. The 6th demanded the surrender of local security forces. Most complied, however battle raged for roughly an hour between the 6th, and the 45th Guard Corps at the KCD Fleet Yards, before the 45th finally surrendered.

Simultaneously the 6ths Second Cohort, personally under the command of Major Netz Rayus stormed the Royal Palace, Evyn’s personal guard put up stiff resistance, but were eventually overwhelmed. Yarok Evyn was captured and brought before Major Rayus, at which point they engaged in personal combat. Netz Rayus emerged victorious. She then declared herself Empress of the Empire of Nechash (Tserran Empire).

Evidence was then transmitted proving that she was the legitimate heir to the previous Emperor. TDF Command which was based out of the KCD Fleet Yards quickly swore fealty to her. Over the next month the majority of Tserran colonies would do the same. The only real hold out was the Republican government of the homeworld, however on the morning of the 12th of March, 2396, they too would capitulate and swear fealty to the new Empress.

As of May, 27, 2396, the Tserran Empire is stable, the Empress Netz Rayus prefers to let the Homeworld, and the various colonies largely govern themselves, with only her occasional intervention.

Technology[]

Shields/Defenses[]

Tserran shield tech is highly sought after due to the fact that, they will not fail as long as they are properly supplied with power. This is not to say,  that Tserran shields are impervious. They are susceptible to kinetic damage, and when put under extended stress within a certain amount of time Tserran shields can become egg shell thin, and my become perforated and not offer true protection. All Tserran ships have a secondary defense called "deflector shields". Although not truly shields in the contemporary sense. Tserran deflector shields consist of a highly reflective hull, combined with a curved EM field. Which is capable of defeating or mitigating the effects of many incoming energy weapons fire.

Weaponry[]

Tserrans use Railguns as their primary ship to ship weapon, with the 30mm Railguns seen as typically the largest you will find, although there are 1mm, 8mm, 10mm, and 20mm variants as well. They all fire vanadium chromium slugs far in excess of what would realistically be needed in ship to ship combat.

Tserran Small arms "Rifles,Pistols, Etc" are typically ballistic based as well, though they have and will use Phased Tetryon varieties.

Propulsion[]

Modern Tserran starships use typical warp, however in the past "Rip Drives" were used quite extensively. A "Rip Drive" literally tore a temporary singularity in space, in essence creating a rapidly collapsing wormhole to the target location. Their speed was almost instantaneous, however they required incredibly precise calculations. Even a tiny miscalculation and you could wind up potentially anywhere with no idea where you are, thus preventing you from calculating a new rip back home.

Medicine[]

Tserran Medical Technology and procedures is at about the level of 22nd century Earth.

Society[]

Tserran society is different depending on the region, planet, or colony one hails from. Most Tserrans have a strong sense of right and wrong, and all believe heavily in honor.

Honor can be quite confusing and contradictory to an outsider who is not versed in its nebulous ways. Honor among Tserrans can best be described as personal excellence in all things, but more so simply being a good person. For example It is no more honorable to be a warrior than it is to be a baker, and it is possible to be a dishonorable baker in the same way as one could be a dishonorable warrior. Likewise It is dishonorable to murder someone, but it is honorable, and indeed not even considered a crime (in most circumstances) to kill someone in say a bar fight. Honorable combat by extension is combat that both sides willingly partake in (More or less).

Religion[]

Among Tserrans there are two general faiths, that do not attempt to compete with each other.

The first, and most prominent of these two faiths is rather Abrahamic, they believe in one God, of many names. Most often this God is referred to simply as “The Creator”. This creator promises an afterlife in his hall or palace to all who believe in his existence, and live an honorable life.

There is a priestly class, and active worship of this Creator does occur, but nowhere on the organized scale of what you would find on Earth. It is generally accepted that the Creator can, does, and may intervene in worldly affairs particularly in favor of those who are honorable. So praying, and asking this creator for favor is definitely a thing.

The second religion among Tserrans is a worship of the void. Literally. Not an entity known as the void, but void as a concept. As in literally nothing. However, this literal nothingness is nonetheless worshipped despite the limitation of not really existing at all.

This religion does have an actual deity it worships alongside the void however, and that is the entity known of as Azrakiel (Sometimes referred to as Azrael), whom is seen as the companion of the void. Azrakiel is the Tserran spirit of Death. Literally Death personified.

This particular religion is quite a bit darker than the worship of the Creator, and is more or less shunned by the majority of Tserrans. This religion revels in death, and indeed death itself is seen as beautiful. That is not to say that the adherents of this religion are all a bunch of murder hobos, indeed despite the worship of this void of death, the adherents of this religion are quite moral. While death, and taking of life is seen as the ultimate worship, it is considered greatly immoral and dishonorable to kill the weak, the infirm, and children....etc.

Generally speaking those who worship Azrakiel and the void care just as much about honor as any Tserran, so there is quite a bit of overlap between the two religions. The afterlife for one who believes in this religion, is the reward of silence, and darkness. An eternity in an endless inky black void. While this may sound terrifying on the surface, this is considered by them to be a sweet afterlife, much akin to the feeling of finally getting to sleep after being deprived it for so long.

Both religions believe in many spirits, and demons, and both generally believe in the existence of each others deities, only in different formats. Those who worship the Creator see Azrakiel as more or less an Angel of Death, and the void as one of many faceless demons, while on the opposite spectrum the Creator is seen by them as merely one of myriad spirits of light.

Tserran Defense Force[]

The Tserran Defense Force or T.D.F is the Military arm of the Empire of Tserra. Her mission is to defend the people of Tserra from all threats, carry out war to foreign territory, and aid the United Federation of Planets in any and all endeavours. The T.D.F consists of four branches: The Space Corps, Ground Defense Corps, Marine Corps, and the Starfighter Corps.

Naval Corps (Space Corps)[]

The Naval Corps is what is often pictured when one thinks of the T.D.F. (However that is not to say that one must be in the Space Corps to serve on nor command a Tserran vessel)

Guard Corps[]

The Tserran Guard Corps, is essentially the National Guard of the Republic of Tserra, and its various colonies. Every inhabited Tserran world has its own local Guard Units.

The primary duty of the Guard Corps, is to provide a quick reaction force, to any major threats against Tserra, and her colonies. The Guard Corps, is not suited, or equipped for lengthy campaigns, nor is it suited for taking the fight to the enemy.

Marine Corps[]

The Marine Corps mainly serve as ground based expeditionary forces, meant to take the fight to the enemy on their own soil. Most Tserran naval vessels carry a compliment of Marines for boarding actions, ship security, and to serve as an amphibious peace keeping force.

Air Corps (Starfighter Corps)[]

The Air Corps, serve in a support role to all other T.D.F Corps. Examples: Most Marine and Guard units are embedded with members of the Starfighter Corps to be able to call in air strikes and orbital bombardments. The Air Corps also serve aboard most Tserran naval vessels as support craft or to pilot the vessels compliment of Starfighters.

Medical Corps[]

The Medical Corps provide medical services to the T.D.F, and its allies. Once upon a time the T.D.F did not supply its own medical personnel. As such most hospitals, and its staff by extension were issued a warrant to act as T.D.F medical. Eventually the T.D.F did begin supplying, and training its own medical personnel, however the practice of issuing medical personnel warrants was kept as a tradition. To this day, all medical personnel, despite being full fledged T.D.F service members, are still issued an indefinite warrant, and given an additional warrant salary, as well all medical personnel continue to have their rank prefixed by the word warrant.

Warrants and Militia[]

Warrants[]

A Warrant is a document which acts as a license, permit, or authorization to act in some capacity, either indefinitely, or for a set time period. Along with the warrant typically comes a salary, usually paid in bulk, for a set time period. A warrant typically covers an organization, or body. Almost never is one issued to a single individual, except in the case of medical personnel.

Warrants can be issued for a multitude of reasons, but always grant the receiving body military or paramilitary status. A warrant is recognized as legitimate no matter its source, and the body it is issued to is granted immunity from many things that would typically be unlawful. For example, giving a warranted starship the authority to board and search suspected smugglers, detain, and arrest them.

The average warrant is usually issued by local governments, and towns to its police forces, or by the Imperial Government for one reason or another.

Militia[]

There are two classes of militia among Tserrans, warranted, and unwarranted. Both of them are legal regardless of warrant status.

The Unwarranted Militia is a collection of citizens whom band together for common defense of themselves, their property, and their community. All of their training, and equipment is handled, and produced by the militiamen themselves. As you would expect this can vary wildly between various militias, and standardization, while a goal, is often unachievable. While they would still be expected to fight as tenaciously as any Tserran, not much should be expected of militias of this type.

The Warranted Militia should be considered a legitimate paramilitary organization, on par with most police forces, and indeed they often act as such in their jurisdictions, generally they give a decent account of themselves when they are called upon to do so. As well they typically have access to a greater array of equipment, and standardization should be expected.

T.D.F Rank Structure[]

This is the rank structure that has been in place with the T.D.F, since before the Earth year of 1385.

Officer Rank[]

Commander in Chief ( C.I.C)[]

The C.I.C is the supreme commander of all Tserran forces.

Major General[]

Usually hold command positions onboard Battleships or major ground installations.

Corresponds to the Federation rank of Fleet Admiral.

Lt. General[]

Has similar duties to that of the Major General.

Corresponds to the Federation rank of Rear Admiral.

Legionary General[]

The Legionary General rank is typically bestowed upon Lieutenant Colonels, and Colonels, regardless of seniority, when aptitude in their particular field is recognized. It would be rare, but not unusual for a newly appointed Legionary Commander, to subsequently be bumped to the rank of Legionary General immediately. Likewise it is possible, and far more common to skip the rank of Legionary General altogether.

Corresponds to the Federation rank of Commodore.

Colonel[]

The typical commanding officer aboard Tserran vessels, or Marine divisions.

Corresponds to the Federation rank of Captain.

Lieutenant Colonel[]

Normally the Executive Officer aboard Tserran vessels.

Corresponds to the Federation rank of Commander.
