The USS Aurora (NCC-1029) was a 23rd century Federation Crossfield-class starship operated by Starfleet under the command of Captain Cathy Michaels. She was the second Crossfield class starship to be constructed. She came after the USS Crossfield and before the USS Glenn and USS Discovery. The ship was in service for nearly 2 years until an accident happened which resulted in the ship being declared lost in mid-2257.

History[]

The USS Aurora was launched into active service in 2255 from the San Francisco Fleet Yards.

2255-2256[]

In the years 2255 and 2256, when the ship was in active service, the Aurora and her crew performed several missions. One of them involved a joint operation with the crew of the USS Enterprise to stop a potential conflict with the Tholian Assembly.

2257[]

In mid-2257, during the testing of the ship's spore drive, an agent working for the Orion Syndicate had been able to get onto the crew manifest and plant an explosive inside the spore chamber.

As the crew went to black alert and the spore drive started to activate, the security officer detected an explosive device in the spore chamber and as he alerted engineering, the ship spore jumped and the explosive detonated. Because of the explosion, the spores became displaced. Although the explosion occurred, killing many of the crew including the chief engineer, the spore jump still happened but instead of jumping in space the Aurora jumped 153 years into the future to the year 2410.
