The USS Falcon was a Intrepid-class Light Cruiser in active service to Starfleet in the late 24th century.

Background[]

The USS Falcon was launched from the Antares Ship Yards in 2371 and was assigned as the personal flagship of then Vice Admiral Maximus Hunter, who was then appointed to the position of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Starfleet.

The USS Falcon served Admiral Hunter for three years, traveling along the Federation's borders, coordinating fleet movements, and spearheading responses to any looming threat.

In 2374, the USS Falcon became one of 114 starships assigned to the First Fleet, the first permanently operating mobile fleet of Starfleet when Admiral Hunter took over as Flag Officer-in-Command and transferred his flag to the Sovereign-class starship USS Ark Royal.

Vanguard Command[]

As part of Vanguard Command, the USS Falcon's capabilities included:

Offensive capabilities[]

Defensive capabilities[]

  • Ablative hull armor, which rapidly dissipates the energy impacts from directed energy weapon fire and makes the ship endure massive weapons fire even after its shield have been overpowered.
  • Ablative generators, which generated a nearly-impenetrable layer of armor around the hull of the ship.
  • Enhanced, regenerative, redundant, reinforced, multiphasic, multispectrum, unimatrix defensive shields, which protects the ship from energy weapons and torpedoes for an exponentially longer duration and makes the ship's hull capable of withstanding extremes of temperature and pressure.
  • Microdiffracted carbon hull coating that absorbs all visible radiation that fell upon it, making it as black as the space it moved through.
  • A sensor stealth system, which masked the ship's warp signature and helped avoid detection during covert operations. Custom-designed warp coil insulators reduced its energy signature almost to nil. As long as radio silence was maintained, the ship could cruise unnoticed through interstellar space.
  • Advanced external holographic emitters, which give the ship the ability to alter its appearance by disguising itself as another object, such as an asteroid.

Propulsion capabilities[]

  • Enhanced impulse engines, which can attain sub-light velocities of 0.95c and faster-than-light velocities of Warp 1.2, allowing the ship to escape supernovas if the warp drive unexpectedly goes offline.
  • An enhanced maneuvering thruster array with retro-thrusters, which exponentially increased the ship's sub-light agility despite its size.
  • A Khronnian enhanced warp drive, which allows the ship to travel at a normal cruise speed of Warp 8.5 and a top sustained speed of Warp 9.5.
  • A quantum slipstream drive, which allows the ship to travel 300 light years in an hour.

Other capabilities[]

Task Force Resilient[]

In 2385, at the request of newly promoted Fleet Admiral Hunter the USS Falcon was attached to Task Force Resilient, his personal task force and, alternately, of his second-in-command, Admiral John Blackbull in their capacity as Fleet Commander and Deputy Fleet Commander of the Vanguard Fleet, respectively.

The USS Falcon was commanded by [[Captain Yulva, a female Saurian and long-time crewmate of Admiral Hunter. Like the rest of the ships of Task Force Resilient, the USS Falcon has Frontier 2 as its home port.

The specific role of the USS Falcon in the task force was to act as one of the forward or rear-screen ships of the flagship, the Achilles-class Battle Cruiser USS Resilient, or of the alternate flagship, the Prometheus-class Assault Cruiser USS Ticonderoga.

When both Admirals Hunter and Blackbull needed to travel, the task force was split in half, with the USS Falcon escorting the personal flagship of Admiral Hunter, the Achilles-class Battle Cruiser USS Resilient, together with the Wakizashi-class Destroyer USS Baghatur and the Defiant-class Tactical Frigate USS Obwandiyag. This was the minimum ship formation permitted for Admiral Hunter to travel with, either onboard the USS Resilient or on other starships.
