The USS Federalist (NCC-91791) was a Prometheus-class Federation starship, launched in 2049. It was the first Federation starship to bear the name and was under the command of Captain Aznia Deet.

History

In 2409, the Federalist made peaceful first contact with the photonic remnants of the extinct Husnock species, and with their aid, was able to destroy a Borg transwarp hub being constructed in the Alpha Quadrant.

Later that year, the ship was taken into the Mirror universe, where it engaged in combat with its own counterpart ISS Federalist. It also mistakenly introduced the relatively peaceful mirror Borg to the corrupting influence of prime Borg technology.

In early 2410 the Federalist discovered a peaceful species, the Ketallians, that existed slightly out of phase with the rest of the universe, rendering them virtually undetectable. The ship was critically damaged when it defended a Ketallian ship from a Tal Shiar attempt to study the phenomenon.

By late 2410 a major refit of the Federalist was complete, and the ship was assigned to lead a convoy in attempting to construct a network of Graviton Catapults with long term hopes to establish a de-facto Federation transwarp network.

Technical Specifications

The Federalist includes a number of non-standard modifications which differentiate it from the original Prometheus Class design. While it does still have the ability to engage Multi-Vector Assault Mode, its hull geometry has been altered slightly to ensure maneuverability through gravitational instabilities.

The Federalist is also equipped with Bio-Neural Gel Packs, and several experimental enhancements dervied from Borg technology. These include a regenerative shield array and an enhanced deflector array. The Federalist is equipped with weaponry derived from a join project with the New Romulan Republic, allowing a more direct flow of energy from the ship's EPS systems to the weapons. As a result, the ship's energy weaponry outputs as Plasma, rather than the standard Federation Phaser.
