Vanguard Command

The USS Hornigold was launched from Coronalis Frontier Fleet Yards in 2384 and was commissioned in 2385 as part of the Vanguard Fleet, the mobile arm of Vanguard Command.

As of 2385, the USS Hornigold was one of four Steamrunner-class Heavy Frigates assigned to Task Force Dauntless. Task Force Dauntless was the mobile arm of Abraxis Command, operating in the Gamma Quadrant from its sector headquarters at Deep Space Gamma-01. Both task force and sector command were under the flag command of Vice Admiral Razal Gibran. The other ships were the USS Corsair, the USS Blackbeard, and the USS Buccaneer.

Under Condition Green, the USS Hornigold escorted the Intrepid-class Light Cruiser USS Starchaser, together with the Saber-class Fast Frigate USS Guardian.

Under Condition Yellow, the USS Hornigold was part of Mission Group Charlie led by the Vesta-class Command Cruiser USS Actium, and was escorted by the Steamrunner-class Heavy Frigate USS Blackbeard, the Intrepid-class Light Cruiser USS Illion, the Saber-class Tactical Frigates USS Phalanx, and USS Guardian, the Merian-class Fast Frigates USS Errant and USS Searcher, and the Defiant-class Tactical Frigates USS Sitting Bull and USS Logan.
