The USS Paramaribo was a Nairobi-class Starfleet transport ship commissioned in 2397.

Like other Nairobi-class ships, the Paramaribo was part of a Starfleet transit program. Many of the Paramaribo's passengers were non-humanoids or non-Federation members.

History

The Paramaribo's first commanding officer was Sheleth, a Kasheeta officer. Other crew members included M'Sam and Ashley Rathipal, credited with proposing the name Paramaribo after her home city on Earth.

The Paramaribo had a permanent crew of about 30, many of whom were medical officers and engineers. (No science officers, other than the ship's chief science officer, were assigned to the Paramaribo on a permanent basis.)

As a Nairobi-class vessel, the Paramaribo could accommodate up to 160 passengers in its standard configuration.

Uniforms

Like other Nairobi-class ships, the Paramaribo operated with a combined operations/command division and a sciences division consisting mostly of medical staff. Under Sheleth's command, the crew wore a special uniform design which combined the operations and command colors and took inspiration from those used on certain ships in the 2240s.

The combadge was the standard model used across Starfleet in the 2390s.

The appearance of the combadge is often simplified. Its canonical appearance is identical to the "future" combadge shown in episodes such as TNG: "All Good Things...", DS9: "The Visitor", and VOY: "Timeless".
