The USS Tesla (NCC-58312) was a Federation Nova-class starship launched in 2372.
In its first operational year, while orbiting the planet Kirax 3, it received the distress signal of an Akira-class Federation starship that was being attacked by a Romulan Valdore-class warbird. When it dropped out of warp, it was disabled from a hit by a photon torpedo. The Akira-class was destroyed, but the Tesla was salvaged. In 2377, It discovered an ancient Tholian temple on Vyron 5, along with several priceless ancient Tholian artifacts. In 2383, it was destroyed by a rogue Klingon Bird-of-Prey. Fortunately, 74 of the 82 crewman survived.
