Vanguard Command[]

The USS Tomahawk was launched from the Coronalis Frontier Fleet Yards in 2384, and was commissioned in 2385 as part of the Vanguard Fleet, the mobile arm of Vanguard Command.

As part of Vanguard Command, the USS Tomahawk's capabilities included:

Offensive capabilities[]

Defensive capabilities[]

  • Enhanced and redundant structural integrity fields, which exponentially increase the ship's ability to maintain the integrity and shape of hulls and bulkheads against the extreme stresses caused by warp fields, weapons, and other motion.
  • Ablative hull armor, which rapidly dissipates the energy impacts from directed energy weapon fire and makes the ship endure massive weapons fire even after its shield have been overpowered.
  • Ablative generators, which generate a nearly-impenetrable layer of armor around the hull of the ship.
  • Enhanced, regenerative, redundant, reinforced, multiphasic, multispectrum, unimatrix defensive shields, which protect the ship from energy weapons and torpedoes for an exponentially longer duration and makes the ship's hull capable of withstanding extremes of temperature and pressure.
  • Microdiffracted carbon hull coating that absorbs all visible radiation that fell upon it, making it as black as the space it moved through.
  • A sensor stealth system, which masks the ship's warp signature and help avoid detection during covert operations. Custom-designed warp coil insulators reduced its energy signature almost to nil. As long as radio silence was maintained, the ship could cruise unnoticed through interstellar space.
  • Advanced external holographic emitters, which give the ship the ability to alter its appearance by disguising itself as another object, such as an asteroid.

Propulsion capabilities[]

  • Enhanced impulse engines, which can attain sub-light velocities of 0.95c and faster-than-light velocities of Warp 1.2, allowing the ship to escape supernovas if the warp drive unexpectedly goes offline.
  • An enhanced maneuvering thruster array with retro-thrusters, which exponentially increases the ship's sub-light agility.
  • A Khronnian enhanced warp drive, which allows the ship to travel at a normal cruise speed of Warp 8.5 and a top sustained speed of Warp 9.5.

Other capabilities[]

  • Bio-neural circuitry, which could process information more efficiently, and therefore speed up computer response time.
  • Tractor rigs, which enhance tractor beam strength by tethering the tractor beams to probes that could be attached to other objects, such as starships, allowing it to tow its parent ship to safety at low warp if the latter happened to be disabled.
  • More powerful and additional fusion reactors
  • More powerful and advanced computer cores
  • Three Mark-III Emergency Multi-Purpose Holograms (EMPH), capable of performing all crew functions.

Task Force Perseverance[]

The USS Tomahawk was the Valiant-class Tactical Corvette assigned as companion ship to the Vesta-class Command Cruiser USS Perseverance. When not deployed, the USS Tomahawk was docked via external docking clamps on the underside of the USS Perseverance's flight deck on the rear end of the ship's secondary hall. The ship was frequently deployed on missions that was in close coordination with the primary escort ship of the USS Perseverance, the Steamrunner-class Heavy Frigate USS Hatamoto.

On certain occasions, the ship was sent to act as temporary companion ship and protector of the Hephaestus-class Support Carrier USS Hephaestus, together with the Yellowstone-class runabouts USS Kruger and the USS Katmai. External dorsal docking clamps had also been installed on the larger ship in order for the USS Tomahawk's crew to disembark onto the Hephaestus-class while waiting for actual escort deployments.

The USS Tomahawk was usually commanded by a Starfleet officer of the command division with the rank of Lieutenant commander from the crew of the USS Perseverance.

Being a companion ship, the USS Tomahawk was not equipped with a quantum slipstream drive. It required embarking on the USS Perseverance or the Hephaestus-class first in order to "hitch a ride" via QSD.

At times, the USS Tomahawk is deployed as part of a squadron led by the modified Captain's Yacht the Khopesh, together with the Venture-class scout ship USS Wingclaw, and the runabout most frequently partnered with yacht, the USS Kunlun.
