The Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, also known as Utopia Planitia Starfleet Yards or Utopia Planitia Shipyards, was a key Starfleet vessel construction and design facility in the 24th and 25th centuries. It included both ground based facilities in the Utopia Planitia region of Mars and drydocks and space stations partly positioned in synchronous orbit 16,625 kilometers above the Martian surface.
The Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in orbit of Mars were among Starfleet's most well established starship construction facilities. These shipyards were responsible for constructing a number of illustrious vessels.
History[]
The Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards saw the design, testing, and construction of many significant vessels, although all aspects of production were standardized for all new starships. Construction took place within a large network of manufacturing and assembly platforms, which were suspended in a vast area above Mars and consisted of a multi-functional skeletal armatures, arranged in such a way as to easily accommodate the shape of the new craft. Many repair facilities shared a common design, such as Earth Station McKinley, whose jointed support arms could cover the saucer section of a starship and allow crews to work on many parts of the vessel at the same time.
Sometime in 2385, Mars was attacked by Rogue Synths. This resulted in tens of thousands of Casualties.
Cryptic Universe[]
By 2409, the shipyards were defended by the Third Fleet. Though developed at the San Francisco Fleet Yards, the USS Odyssey was launched from Utopia Planitia in 2409.
