Dis-walker

The Walker-class was a type of Federation light military cruiser in service during the mid 23rd century. Named in honor of the controversial Starfleet Captain Markus Walker. The Walker class is based on the "Blade" series of combat cruisers developed by the Terran Empire around the same period.

Co-developed and designed by Gabriel Lorca the Walker class gave the Federation a tactical edge during the height of the Federation/Klingon war from 2255-2260. Equipped with a combination of 24th and 25th century style technology the Walker class (albeit classified as top secret for over a hundred years) stood surprisingly advanced for nearly centuries afterward.

Physical arrangement[]

The physical design/layout of the Walker class bears a strong resemblance to that of the Akira-class. The Walker class consisted of a "blended body" configuration with a saucer section with an integrated, laterally-positioned navigational deflector and a compact secondary/stardrive hull curved upward into the saucer, and two blade-like nacelles attached by pylons extending beneath the ship's superstructure.

The Walker class was capable of atmospheric flight by means of thrusters scattered over its ventral hull.

Weapons compliment[]

Outside of standard phaser banks and photon torpedo-based weapons that are standard issues for ships of the era, the Walker class also included special systems including being one of the first ships with phaser arrays mounted to the top and bottom of the saucer section. This placement was similar to that of Dreadnought class carriers of the same era. As well as rotating Phaser cannons arrayed towards the front of the saucer similar to that of Terran ship cannon bank sections.

With this elaborate armament configuration, the basic emitter arrays were used for base defense while the cannons placed behind them were for point defense and penetration of more heavily armored hulls.

The Walker class also had the honor of being one of the first ships in Starfleet to be equipped with Mega phasers for utilization in heavy combat zones.

It also had 26 Ballistic warhead launchers arrayed atop the saucer section, working similar to Accelerator cannons of the early 22nd century the launchers could fire either heavy MOAB style explosives or ranged yield nuclear munitions. The launchers could also be cleared of munitions and used for emergency escape pod deployment.

It also was one of the first Starfleet vessels that was equipped with a photonic cannon mounted into its deflector array on its bow.

The class was further advanced by tying in all targeting systems directly to the ship's sensory systems in order to pinpoint track and aim via specialized sensory sweep and precise radiation emission detection.

Interior Design[]

Atypically for a Starfleet vessel, the bridge was located on the underside of the saucer, on deck seven, and had an adjacent captain's Ready Room. The internal arrangement of the Walker class did not change significantly by the later development of the more advanced Crossfield-class ships, with nearly identical corridors and crew quarters.

The Walker possessed transporter systems similar to that of Crossfield vessels; however, it was equipped with lateral vector transporters, a design deemed obsolete by the late 2240s. The ship's brig was located on deck nine.

Ship systems[]

The Walker class was also equipped with several interactive and service systems that were anachronistically advanced to other ships in the current fleet of the era.

  • Holographic and advanced touchscreen-based S/COMS ship's interface that bore a resemblance to LCARS.
